Meet Olaph!
December 2020 & Re-visited December 2025
Ed Luce, creator of Wuvable Oaf comics, designed this jovial character named Olaph, sometime in the early aughts. Olaph is inspired by my delightful husband, Gustavo. I created this sculpt originally for the Panels Comics & Sequential Art Exhibition, in Phoenix Arizona. The show closed on March 5, 2020 just before the covid-19 lockdown. Post show, the Olaph sculpt was returned to me and I soon ended up dropping it shattering the torso section into tiny resin pieces. Ed painted the print for the show, I still have the baggy full of resin shards.
The original piece was a smaller resin print. I recently stumbled upon the .stl and decided to go much bigger as an fdm print over the holidays late 2025. At this scale, the work I put into the fabric and other finer details really come through in the print. Next steps, prep and surfacing.
